Here is a list of our favourite places to visit or places we would like to visit in Yorkshire during this year’s summer holidays, some of these places have activities to keep the smalls busy so grab a picnic and enjoy a family Yorkshire day out.
Discover the history of television, film, and photography at Bradford’s National Science & Media Museum, with seven floors for the whole family to explore.
Let the kids run off some of that energy with 400 acres of moorland and rock formations to climb and explore.
Bolton Abbey is set in the heart of Wharfedale countryside across 33,000 acres, The beautiful ancient Strid Wood offers many trails and activities. Enjoy a picnic while the children play in the river.
The park is an open-air gallery showing the work of British and international artists with more than 60 works of art and 500 acres to explore, trail activities for the kids. Admission is free but there is a cost for parking £12 for all-day or £6.50 for 1-2 hours.
Such a quirky place to explore! The Druids Temple’s architecture resembles that of Stonehenge, it was built in the late 1700s by William Danby the owner of Swinton Estate and Swinton Park. The site contains the main temple with a sacrificial stone in the centre along with other stone formations located around the woods.
The railway museum was always a firm favourite of ours when my children were younger. Such a fantastic place for smalls to roam with lots of trains to explore just a short walk from York train station.
The Royal Armouries is the UK’s oldest museum and the national museum of arms and armour and houses a collection of over 75,000 objects
Climb the 199 steps to reach the ruins and to take in the beautiful views. Maybe even have fish and chips as a treat once you have got back down the 199 steps.
I LOVE lavender, I haven’t visited here yet but it is on my list to go and explore this relaxing picturesque farm. With lots to offer Nature walks, a play area, giant games & a maze. I’m looking forward to treating myself to some lavender treats from the gift shop.
We love to go here for a walk all year round with our girls and little dog, the paths are well maintained and easy to get around. We’re very lucky to have this place on our doorstep! I think Swinsty is the more popular and busier and takes about an hour to get around.
Let me know where you decided to go with your family and share your thoughts.
