Blogtober Autumn Essentials

14 Autumn essentials that will help to keep you cosy!

I thought I would share some of my Autumn essentials.

Autumn marks the transition from Summer to Winter. Shorter days, trees and shrubs leafy greens start turning orange and red. Evenings are beginning to get colder, autumnal weather kicks in, winter coats come out and raking leaves is a daily chore. For me, autumn is the cosy season gradually getting out your warm and snuggly jumpers and cardigans. I treat myself to some new cosy slippers, autumn coloured house plants. The warm PJs come out. I love nothing more than cosying up on the sofa with a mug of hot chocolate, a fleecy blanket, candles burning away over on the fireplace while lost in autumn thoughts and planning out my autumn ideas, or watching what’s currently trending on Netflix.

Have you read my Binge-Worthy Tv & Movies, which I will never get tired of? they’re perfect for cosying upon an autumnal night read it here.

Long weekend autumnal walks –  I especially love heading out for long walks. It gives me great pleasure kicking up leaves…like a child jumping in muddy puddles. I’m a grown lady-child who gets excited when she sees a path of fallen leaves. Maybe this autumn, I can convince Kayleigh that leaf angles are a thing… are they? Of course, I could always bribe her with a hot chocolate from Starbucks on the way home and forgetting a Pumpkin spiced latte for myself and a warm cinnamon swirl to share. If you haven’t tried one of these yet, you must. You don’t know what you’re missing!

I tend to spend time taking care of my skin a lot more in autumn & winter months, long bubble baths and smoother myself in body butter. I always carry lip balm where ever I go. My go-to at the moment is Rose and Almond Oil, Vaseline lip therapy. Hand cream is another Item I carry with me in my bag at all times. I have just purchased the most beautiful hand cream I’ve ever used on a recent trip to the Isle of Arran, from Arran Aromatics – Ginger & Ginseng, it smells fantastic, so clean and fresh, and after using it for one week, my hands are already feeling much softer.

Half term & Halloween

The children are always ready for this first break after the first term back at school after the long summer break, this year, I’m working through the half term, and the girls will be doing fun stuff with Dad, having a great time. No doubt. I’ve always bought pumpkins to carve, but they’re usually whatever we can get hold of from our local supermarket. This year I want to go to a local pumpkin patch with the girls to pick our own. Hopefully, we can find somewhere that has some Halloween activities for kids. I’m also looking forward to doing some Autumn crafts; we will be heading to York to see auntie Nicki in her beautiful farmhouse, where we’re planning on going for an autumnal walk collecting conkers and pine cones for some autumn activities.

It’s not Halloween if you don’t watch Disney classic Hocus Pocus, and snacking on seasonal foods family time is a perfect time.

Interesting piece on Halloween. Pumpkins are very essential on Halloween fest.

I love your mindful approach to the changing seasons! They usually pass me by and I don’t enjoy them as much as I should. You’ve inspired me to make a list of my own, and to appreciate all of the little things that I can do to make this autumn special (here in Texas I still have a little time to prepare – we’re still in the 80’s and 90’s). To start: dresses and skirts with tights and boots, chili (and this year I’ll try some homemade soups), Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches at Starbucks, the scent of fallen leaves in the park, pumpkin scented candles, and movie marathons!
