Traditional Games

What are traditional games?

One of the many questions that kids have is, “What is a traditional game?”

The answer to this question can be interpreted differently. It’s all about what you were taught or grew up playing as a child and how you define it.

Some games may not even be considered a traditional game but are still played in many homes today. For example, Monopoly has been around for years, and everyone knows the rules to play it!

Many people are not aware that there are many traditional games out there. There is a wide range of games, from checkers, chess, cards and dominoes. These games have been around for centuries, but the beauty of them is they never grow old or tired. Instead, they are always new and exciting because we can make up our own rules to suit our needs.

Family Games Night

We love playing games, and we now have quite the stack of board games.

We have all the usual games that most households have, which include monopoly, Jenga, Cluedo, Scrabble, Dobble, to name a few.

But we don’t own many of the more traditional games. So when Jaques of London reached out and asked if they could send us one of their products to test, we chose the Travel Chess Draughts and Backgammon set.

We thought this was perfect with lockdown easing, and we’re now able to meet with up to 6 people outdoors. This little set is small and compact and easy for you to take it out in your bag. It really is perfect for the whole family. We can all enjoy the different games this travel set has to offer.

“When we think of chess, we often think in terms of the modern plastic or metal pieces that take up a lot of space. But have you ever seen these wooden travel sets? All the bits fit inside nicely. They’re beautiful and so much more charming than what you might find at your local toy store.”

If you’re in the market for a new chess set, I highly recommend checking out Jaques of London. They have a wide range of Chess Sets available. In addition, they come beautifully presented; they’re so much more charming than what you would find at your local toy store.

Traditional games are fun and educational.

Did you know that all Jaques of London products are designed by UK teachers? Kids who play traditional games, such as Chess or Checkers, also learn skills like counting and strategy building. Games have been shown to be so much more than just a game; they’re an experience! You can enjoy these types of games with friends or family members. The best thing about these types of games is they can last for hours!
